Amidst all the chaos of newfound fame, fans and tv interviews, Honey struggles to maintain his relationship to his best friend Dani. During a live TV interview we see Honey trace back to his memories. We see his shared childhood with Dani and a birthday party where he cuts ties with her.
Gwyneth Paltrow is quoted as saying “You kind of stop growing at the age when you become famous… You don’t have any real perspective on the problems that you face in life, how to surmount them, and what kind of character you have.” In the RUFF spotlight film, Honey!, our protagonist is stuck in a similar state of arrested development. He’s young, he’s famous, and it seems as if he’s already stuck in a destructive and childish mindset. Weaving between dreamlike and surreal memories, and the chaotic life in the fast lane, Honey! is an examination of how the cost of fame might just be everything.
